UPDF and South Sudan Army clash at the border.
The Uganda Peoples Defense Forces have clashed with the South Sudanese soldiers in Ngomoromoro, Lokung, Sub County in Lamwo District. The UPDF and South Sudanese army confirmed the clashes that happened on Tuesday, but Uganda is in a process to de-escalate the tension that was reported to have involved the use of heavy weaponry. The spokesperson of the UPDF, Brig Flavia Byekwaso, said diplomatic and military engagements are yielding positive results to restore normalcy at the border. “The UPDF will continue to pursue safety alongside our border to enable trade and peaceful co-existence in the spirit of Pan Africanism,” Brig Byekwaso said yesterday.
