To aide security in the 2021 polls, police to recruit 50,000 special constables

The Uganda Police Force Spokesperson, COmmissioner of Police Fred Enanga, on Monday announced that the police would recruit 50,000 special police constables (SPC’s) to maintain law and order in the forthcoming 2021 general election.

Speaking at a press briefing, Spokesman Fred Enenanga emphasized that for the effective policing of the pre-election and post-election period the 50,000 SPC’s will be recruited to boost the strength of the Uganda police. The fifty thousand Police Constables will be recruited from their respective districts, they will be vetted by the district police commanders and the various district leaders.

The SPCs will only serve for a period of three months from January 2021 and will earn 370,000 shillings. Enanga revealed that all the recruits will have to present National ID, Senior Four certificate or its equivalent and must possess a reputation of good conduct in their respective areas of residence.
