Prime Minister Rugunda Dismisses Retiring Claims

Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda

Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda has dismissed social media reporters that claim that he is retiring from Government.

Rugunda said in a brief press conference held at Parliament that the reports on news media are a concoction and fabrication by some people.

“I have seen social media reports to the effect that I have written to the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni informing him of my retirement. Those are lies, I have not written to the      President or talked to him about that.” Ruganda noted.

He explained that he is still strong enough to serve the country. “Our view is that we serve the people of Uganda. We serve as and when we have the energy. I have no immediate plans to stop work because I am continuing. Revolutionaries have the role to serve people. I have a role to serve Uganda and Africa. I am making that contribution.”

Rugunda said he doesn’t know the intentions of the people circulating such reports but his duty is service to the people.

He emphasized that he will announce at the appropriate time as and when he will retire.
