Presidential Candidates to Sign New EC Rules
Following the continuous complaints from presidential candidates in regard to security interruptions during campaigns, the Electoral Commission has issued new guidelines for presidential candidates to follow in order to mitigate the already inflamed environment.
In the new guidelines, all presidential candidates are required to sign a memorandum of understanding committing to EC to abide by guidelines during campaigns.
EC chairperson Simon Byabakama announced these new guidelines yesterday after the meeting with National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi at the EC headquarters.
Byabakama says the new guidelines are meant to deal with the ugly scenes between the security apparatus and presidential candidates.
