President Museveni summons all police commanders
The president and commander-in-Chief (CIC) of the Uganda People’s Defense Force, Gen. Museveni has summoned all police commanders for a security meeting.
During the meeting scheduled for Saturday at State House, Entebbe, the commanders will be tasked with explaining the insecurity in their regions, according to sources.
A source revealed that commanders are expected in Kampala tomorrow to undergo COVID-19 tests before the meeting.
The affected include division, district, regional and administrative commanders. These are 161 policing divisions/districts in the 28 regions monitored by the police countrywide.
The meeting comes at a time when over 30 district police commanders countrywide are on suspension and under investigation over a wide range of crimes, including murders, robberies and illegal land evictions.
The meeting is also expected to discuss issues relating to the welfare of officers, promotions, medical care and accommodation, among others.
