President Museveni Meets with Sudanese Leader

President Yoweri Museveni has held talks with the Chairman of the Transitional Military Council of the Republic of Sudan, Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who he hosted at State House Entebbe yesterday.

Gen. Fattah, who is the current chairman of the regional body, intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), is also the chairperson of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan.

The visiting Sudanese leader, according to a release from State House, congratulated President Museveni on his resounding victory in the recently concluded elections, describing him as an inspiring leader in the region and Africa.

“I wish to say congratulations to you, the people of Uganda ad the entire region on winning the recent elections. You are an inspiring leader in the region and Africa.” Sudan’s president said.

President Museveni and his guest discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to the two countries-Uganda and the Republic of Sudan, as well as regional matters.

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Sam Kutesa, was among the senior government officials who attended the meeting.
