Museveni donates sh200m to the Lwanga family
President Yoweri Museveni has made a contribution of Sh200m towards the burial expenses for Kampala Archbishop Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.
In a condolence message delivered on his behalf by Col. John Byuma and the President’s Private’s Private Secretary, Vincent Musinguzi, to the archbishop’s family in Kyabakadde, Mukono district, the President consoled the family, urging them to remain strong and united, even as they mourn a great leader.
The Archbishop’s family was represented by Justin Mayanja, the younger brother of Lwanga, according to a statement issued from State House.
Earlier on Tuesday, during the National Prayers at Kololo in honour of Lwanga, President Museveni praised the archbishop as a distinguished national leader who deserves a befitting national send-off.
The archbishop succumbed to Ischemic heart disease following coronary heart thrombosis (heart attack), according to a post-mortem report from Mulago National Referral Hospital.
Archbishop Lwaga was found dead in his bed on Saturday morning.
