NRM Wins the Highest National Seat and The Greatest Number of Legislators In 11th Parliament

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has once again taken up the country’s most prestigious political position following the 2021 presidential elections which declared candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni winner.

The outcome of the election process shows that Yoweri Museveni, the NRM candidate polled 5,851,037 votes representing 58.64 per cent of the total votes cast, to beat his main challenger Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who polled 3,475,298 votes which is equal to 34.83 per cent of the total votes cast.

This becomes the party’s sixth term in leadership extending the rulership to 2026.

NRM did not only become victorious in obtaining the presidential position but also the greatest number of parliamentarians in the 11th parliament.

NRM has 316 MPs against, Independent MPs 73 , National Unity Platforms who are 61, Forum for Democratic Change 28, Uganda People’s Congress 10, Democratic Party, 9 and People’s Progressive Party,1.

Some of the NRM legislators are Mr Kateshumba, the former Uganda Revenue Authority official declared a winner in the hotly contested Sheema Municipality MP race against Minister Elioda Tumwesigye.

Shartsi Kutesa, the daughter to Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa, has been declared winner of Mawogola North MP race with 17,274 votes against NUP’s Henry Nyanzi, 2,346; Salim, 2,544; Nanyanzi Catherine, 2,025; Hillary Tukundane, 138; Ismael Wagaba, 72; and Moses Lyazi got 83 votes.
