Museveni, Ndayishimiye discuss Bilateral relations Ties
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has discussed bilateral relations ties with Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimye on his two-day official visit.
Mr Ndyayishimiye said with peace and reconciliation in Burundi, the country is going forward with economic transformation to improve people’s lives.
This Thursday, during their exchanges in Entebbe, the two Heads of State also praised the good relations between Burundi and Uganda as well as the warming of relations between Burundi and its partners.
They called on the European Union to lift unjust sanctions against Burundi
The two Presidents identified key sectors that can boost bilateral relations starting from agriculture, energy, and minerals.
They also reviewed how to increase the volume of bilateral trade by bringing respective private sectors to identify opportunities for trade and investment.
They directed their respective Ministers to ensure that implementation of existing agreements and other frameworks of cooperation is fast-tracked.
President Ndayishimiye who was on a two-day official visit to Uganda on invitation by President Museveni also attended the swearing-in ceremony at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
The President who is accompanied by the First Lady of Burundi Angeline Ndayishimiye said Burundi considers President Museveni as a father of their nation because ‘you gave yourself up’ to help Burundi to bring peace and reconciliation and now as you see Burundi is in peace because of your efforts.
President Museveni said Uganda can support Burundi to exploit the oil prospects since Uganda and Burundi have the same characteristics.
He pledged to look for investors to support Burundi’s iron ore industry.
