Museveni appeals to Tanzania to create more market for Uganda.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni speaking at the swearing in ceremony of Tanzania’s President John Pombe Magufuli, asked Tanzania to create more market for sugar, maize, milk, bananas and manufacturing products stating that the local market in Uganda isn’t enough.
Museveni was a guest speaker at the ceremony at the Jamhuri Stadium in Tanzania’s capital Dodoma yesterday where the swearing in took place.
Museveni said the region needs a stronger Market for products across East Africa and Africa in order to guarantee prosperity for citizen.
Citing the example of Uganda, Museveni said prayer doesn’t bring prosperity but buying and selling of products, a lesson Uganda has learnt a bitter way.
Museveni congratulated Magufuli and Chama Cha Mapinduzi party upon winning elections and Magufuli for following the footsteps of the fore fathers.
Chama Cha Mapinduzi has been the ruling party in Tanzania since independence in 1961 founded by Julius Nyerere.
Magufuli was sworn in into office a second five-year term amidst tight security.
The swearing-in on Thursday came despite the opposition calling for a fresh election, the disbandment of the electoral commission and an “endless peaceful demonstration” over the October 28 vote.
