Ministry of ICT awards Shs 7.39b to 45 local Innovations
The Ministry of ICT has awarded shs 7.39b to 45 local innovations that were chosen from 959 applications.
The best innovations were unveiled yesterday, at a ceremony held at the Ministry offices in Kampala.
The 45 innovations are in the sectors of health, especially on COVID-19 contact tracing; surveillance and data management, and public service delivery during and after the pandemic.
The Ministry’s Permanent Secretary said the 45 innovations emerged best following a rigorous vetting process that started in April last year.
Some of the innovations include the COVID-19 trace, which, if developed and implemented, will record user movement data and store it locally on the smartphone for 14 days.
Others include SanPay, a mobile application technology that empowers mobile money users to instantly pay for goods and services by scanning bills with their smartphones and My musawo, an app that allows Ugandans to have immediate access to medical information.
