Ministry of Education to Issue two certificates for S.4 leavers

The Ministry of Education will start issuing two leavers’ certificates to senior Four (S.4) Candidates.

This includes one certificate issued by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DTI) as one of the government strategies to create employment among the youth.

According to Minister of state for Education and Sports, (primary education), Rosemary Seninde this will begin with this year’s senior one academic year.

Students will be trained and assessed in vocational skills, alongside the formal curriculum and will upon completion of the four years be issued with an additional certificate in vocational skills.

Seninde said the ministry had recently reviewed the lower secondary school curriculum and it would be mandatory for all lower secondary school to undergo the four-year vocational training.

This she said was intended to produce children who can compete for jobs globally.

The leavers would use the certificates to apply for jobs or use the skills acquired to create their own employment.
