Govt sets up a Health Command Center to fight COVID 19

Government has set up a metropolitan health command centre in efforts to fight COVID19.

The command centre which is comprised of politicians and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) officials is set to ensure observance of measures against the spread of COVID 19 and also track related cases around Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso.

Speaking at the Uganda Media Center yesterday, The Minister for Kampala, Hon. Betty Amongi warned political actors against violence and intimidation of supporters who subscribe to other camps, adding that during presidential nominations on Tuesday, many incidents culminated by politicians interrupted business and exposed people to the risk of contracting COVID 19 which was as a result of some politicians failing to abide to the set standards by the Ministry of Health.

Warning against compliancy and breach of the standard Operation Procedures (SOPS), Betty Amongi said; “All hospitals in Kampala are now full, and the COVID 19 patients admitted there are those whose who are vulnerable and need special care.”
