Govt Launches a Presidential Advisory Committee to scrutinise the Budget

Government has launched a Presidential Advisory Committee on budget to help in ensuring that resources indicated in the 2021/ 2022 budget are distributed to necessary interventions for improving lives of Ugandans.

The launch was presided over by the Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda yesterday in Kampala.

The committee which is chaired by Member of Parliament Jacob Isiagi Opolot will identify areas which can boost production.

Rugunda appealed to the team to ensure that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) manifesto and presidential pledges are incorporated in the national budget by allocating resources among identified priorities.

The team will also ensure that infrastructure development, improving productivity and strengthening the private sector remain the key priorities according to Rugunda.

The total budget for 2021/2022 is at Shs.40.7trillion.
