Govt clears DGF to resume its Activities
The Government has cleared the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF), the biggest non-governmental organization (NGO) funder in Uganda to resume its activities.
Gen. Jeje Odongo, the internal affairs minister, said there was a question as to the matters of accountability regarding the facility and this forced the Government to put a halt to their activities.
DGF provides financial and technical support to both state and non-state actors is funded by eight Development Partners (DPs): Austria, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, The United Kingdom and the European Kingdom.
Odongo was addressing journalists at Hotel Africana yesterday where he explained that what happened was a necessary part of accountability on the part of the Government.
He noted that in order to continue fulfilling its responsibility, the Government had to put a halt to DGF’s activities and audit their activities.
