Govt allocates sh15b for cooperatives in National Budget
Government has allocated Sh 15b for compensation of cooperatives in the National Budget scheduled to be officially read next month.
Using its appropriation powers guaranteed in both the Budget Act and the Public Finance Management Act, Parliament reallocated over sh750b from various items, including where costs appeared inflated to various entities with pressing needs.
The cooperatives that will benefit from the allocation include sh5b for Wamala Growers Cooperative Union, sh2b for Busoga Growers Cooperative Union, sh3b for Teso Cooperative Union, sh3b for West Nile Cooperative Union, sh2b for North Bukedi Cooperative Union, sh1b for Central West Nile Cooperative Union, and sh1b for Masaba Cooperative Union.
The National Budget will be read next month after the appointment of the new Cabinet and election of the new leadership of Parliament.
