Governments Secures Megaphones Worth 2.9b For VHTs
Speaking at a two-day training on psychosocial support for COVID- 19 patients, and training of health workers on integrated disease surveillance and response at Riders Hotel Mukono, the Commissioner in charge of health promotion, education and strategic communication, Richard Kabanda said Government has secured 10,000 megaphones to be used by Village Health teams (VHTs) for community COVID-19 sensitization.
Hon. Kabanda said VHTs were previously facing difficulties in talking to people about social distancing campaigns therefore Megaphones were purchased to aid COVID-19 sensitization and to bridge the communication gap within communities regarding COVID-19.
He added that 53 districts have already received megaphones and the distribution is still ongoing in other places.
The distribution is based on the geographical scope of the district, each Parish and Subcounty are entitled to one megaphone each.
