Gen Henry Tumukunde Launches Manifesto
The Independent Presidential Candidate Gen Henry Tumukunde officially launched his Campaign manifesto at Boma ground in Fort portal City Kabarore District yesterday.
Tumukunde arrived in Fort Portal city on Monday after addressing a rally at Rubona in Bunyangabu district.
In his message to Fort Portal residents, Tumukunde said he will emphasize tea and banana processing stressing that many of the farmers are incurring losses because they don’t add value to their products.
“In Fort Portal there are several tea factories but local people have not benefited from their crops. Ugandan tea is being blended from outside Uganda and yet it can be done here,” Tumukunde said.
He emphasized that there was a need to develop the tourism industry in Fort Portal for people to benefit from the sector.
“Fort Portal was made a tourism city but nothing has been done to improve tourism in the area so that people can benefit from it,” Tumukunde insinuated.
Tumukunde is campaigning under his Renewed Uganda platform. His manifesto’s theme is equitable access to resources and opportunities and enhanced political inclusiveness.
