EC Blacklists 581 Polling Officials Over Voting Fraud

Electoral Commission has blacklisted over 581 polling officials over voting fraud.

These officers are from the 83 polling stations where results for the recent presidential and parliamentary elections were annulled and excluded in the final national tallies.

“We blacklisted them immediately and we did not use them in the elections for district local government councils. Votes at their polling stations were not tallied for various reasons, so we will assess them and take action on those within our mandate.” The acting Electoral Commission spokesperson Paul Bukenya said.

EC said the reasons for cancelation of results of 83 polling stations included destruction of voting materials at the stations, violence and hooliganisms.

The blacklisted officials are from the districts of Isingiro, Kole, Wakiso, Mukono, Sironko, Kampala, Kotido, Bundibugyo, Kyotera, Sembabule, Rakai, Bukomansimbi, Lyatonde, Jinja City, Gomba and Jinja.
