Buganda Kingdom Asks Government to Stop Arrest of Politicians
The Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom, Charles Mayiga appealed to the Government and Police to stop arresting politicians and brutalizing them under the guise of promoting Standard Operating Procedures.
“The Price of preventing the spread of COVID-19 should not be killing, maiming, torturing or imprisonment of innocent people vying for different political offices.”
Mayinga noted that security agencies should not violent individual freedom and rights as they do their work.
“It is not that whoever violets the set guidelines and regulations or even the law should be beaten, imprisoned or his or her rights violated upon. Sometimes words of caution are better to create harmony. Let us promote peaceful means of handling differences.” Mayinga added.
He urged the Government to ensure that the political freedom of all politicians and Ugandans is promoted.
