AINE KAGUTA SODO WINS OVER THE STRONGLY CONTESTED NRM MAWOGOLA ELECTIONS

Aine Kaguta aka Sodo has been declared winner of the highly contested Mawogola elections defeating Shartsi Kutesa Musherure in a by-election for Mawogola North Constituency in Ssembabule on Monday, 30th September 2020.

The two members of the first family, Aine Kaguta, younger brother to the Uganda’s Head of State, Yoweri Kaguta and Shartsi Kutesa, the daughter to the minister of foreign affairs and Member of Parliament for the Ssembabule 2019, Hon. Sam Kutesa have been competing for the party flag in a newly created constituency that was approved by Parliament in July.

This race was postponed twice following the election suspension due to fights and skirmishes between supporters from different rival camps at the time of NRM primary elections in the area.

 

George William Katokoozi, the NRM elections registrar for Sembabule declared Kaguta the winner with a total of 17,343 votes beating Shartsi Musherure Kutesa who polled 16,104 votes and Salim Kisekka who emerged third last with 4,274 votes.
